Synchronicity?

syn·chro·nic·i·ty
ˌsiNGkrəˈnisədē/
noun
noun: synchronicity
  1. 1.
the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.
    “such synchronicity is quite staggering”

Or

Synchronicity holds that such events are “meaningful coincidences”

I probably apply this word too broadly, to too many things that happen to me.  You can probably guess, I like the second definition.  Of course, they are meaningful.  In fact, most of them aren’t even coincidences, are they?

Stuff like this:

-I send a blog post praising hotel staff to the manager 15 minutes before the staff holiday party.

–I think about someone and they show up. Not always welcome.

–I’m working on a project – art, writing, whatever – and the subject shows up EVERYWHERE. Books, TV shows, movies, songs on the radio.

I always thought this was sort of cool. Am I contacting the universe or is it contacting me? Lately the universe’s preferred method of communication has been the internet.

I’ve been dreaming about a snorkeling vacation. I might have even looked around at airfare. Or checked Trip Advisor for good places to stay on the Isle of Holbox.

Coincidentally, Facebook is advertising beach lodging.

Maybe synchronicity isn’t so cool anymore. I’m starting to get paranoid.

I was doing a little online shopping for my husband’s Christmas present. The next day Weather Underground knows just where to get said item. Too bad Rollo is checking the forecast.

I’m starting to feel stalked.

This could be dangerous. I didn’t realize that while Big Brother was watching me I should have had an eye on him.

A family member recently did a web search for this blog site. I’m not going to say which search engine she used. For some reason, she did not choose the first result, the one that listed marycoffeystrand.  She choose the 6th. Or the 56th. One that was NOT my blog site, but had my name in the description and a promise of images. She must have been really bored.

Oh yes. She got images. Yes, she did. The kind you wish you could un-see. Well, I guess I can’t speak for you, maybe for some of you they would be…um…stimulating? But I wish I could un-see them.

I don’t know how this happened. I know that’s what they all say, but I really don’t. Did my enemy(s) post this? Is there some huge internet scam hoping to …what…give the very few that read this blog…a thrill? Or a heart attack? Or a computer virus? Or in some way entice them to give up their credit card info or social security number in exchange for…what?

My cousin was very concerned that my sterling image would be tarnished by my appearance next to these less than appropriate images. I don’t want any of you to go looking for this site, in case it is some sort of scam. So I’m going to go ahead and post the image of me that appears on that site RIGHT HERE. I’m sure you can understand this is a tough decision for me, as racy as it is. Brace yourselves. Are you ready? Here goes.

Seeing this again, cousin could be right, maybe it will hurt my image. Oh wait, I don’t think I have one, so its probably ok. More likely, the “models” on that other site are concerned by the appearance in their midst of a not-so-“stimulating” 50 year old in googles and flippers.

Then again, my heels are bare.
